In the UK, you don’t need to be a prescriber to inject dermal filler, but you do need to be a prescriber to inject botulinum toxin (Botox). Currently, there is no way for dental therapists or dental hygienists to become prescribers.

 

If you want to inject Botox, you need to work under a doctor, dentist, or nurse prescriber. If your dental practice has dentists who are willing to prescribe Botox, this will be likely be easy to organise.
If your dental practice doesn’t prescribe Botox, unfortunately you’ll need to look for a position elsewhere. This can be another dental practice where you can still work as a dental therapist or hygienist, or it can be a dedicated facial aesthetics clinic where you work solely as an aesthetics practitioner. Regardless of where you go, always remember that you need to partner with a doctor, dentist, or nurse prescriber to inject.

 

You may still be able to inject dermal filler at your current dental practice since this does not require a prescription.
Qualifications vary by country, but the UK unfortunately has no regulations on who can practise aesthetic medicine.

 

At the HUB, we only train medical professionals, and you must be able to provide evidence of your professional registration in order to enrol in any of our courses. We train dentists, doctors, nurses, pharmacists, dental therapists & hygienists, and physician associates.

 

For our Foundation courses, you do not need any previous aesthetic medicine experience.
Yes, we train dental therapists and hygienist from all over the world! Our online courses can be accessed globally, and delegates often come from overseas to participate in our hands-on training. We also have the occasional international course date. Keep an eye on our course dates page for an up-to-date list of our hands-on dates.
For our Foundation courses, you do not need any previous aesthetic medicine experience. You can come to the course as a complete beginner and rest assured that you’ll leave with comprehensive aesthetic training by the end of it.
Yes of course! We hear horror stories from other courses of model sharing and models not turning up. We are here to make your learning easy and focussed. You will be allocated your own models for the training day. There won’t be model sharing.

 

At the HUB you will have patients selected for you. These patients want treatment and are suitable.

If you’re a beginner aesthetic injector, we recommend our Foundation: Botox & Lip Filler course to start out. This course will teach you all the basics and prepare you to start your own aesthetic practice.

 

If you’re an intermediate to advanced practitioner, check out our Facial Ultrasound Course. Ultrasound technology is the single best way to prevent and treat complications for your patients, and it is essential to every aesthetic practitioner’s practice.
