We’re bringing our facial ultrasound course to Toronto this March as part of the Safe Practice Summit! Dr MJ is teaming up with Gillian Murray to give you a weekend packed full of facial ultrasound and practical complication training. This intensive two day Summit goes beyond theory and will answer all of your questions about complications.
As medical injectors, it’s our responsibility to lead this industry in best practice – we will only be taken seriously when we practise safely. What to Expect
WHAT IS IT: Two days of facial ultrasound training and practical complication training in Toronto. Learn advanced ultrasound techniques, see real life cases, learn reliable workflows, and master practical approaches you can immediately use in your practice. With two world-renowned aesthetics instructors, you’ll leave the Safe Practice Summit prepared to treat complications without fear.
WHAT IT CONTAINS: The HUB’s online course that covers the basics of facial ultrasound and ultrasound anatomy (see the syllabus here), our Advanced Ultrasound: Filler Recognition course, advanced hands-on ultrasound training with Dr MJ, practical complication training with Gillian Murray, PLUS a networking dinner with industry leaders and peers.

Start your course online, at home. Complete the learning in your own time before joining Dr MJ & Gillian in Toronto for in-person training. Our online learning is rigorous and hard. So be prepared!
2. Safe Practice Summit
Practical training in Toronto. Day One will be hands-on training in facial ultrasound with Dr MJ Rowland-Warmann. Day Two is practical filler complication training with Gillian Murray.
3. Networking Dinner
After the Summit in Toronto, you’ll take part in a networking dinner with industry leaders and peers. You will also be invited into our exclusive WhatsApp group of medical professionals.

Please note: the fee entitles you to 12 months access to the online Facial Ultrasound and Advanced Ultrasound: Filler Recognition courses. After 12 months you will be offered a subscription. When you’ve completed your online courses and the Safe Practice Summit, we strongly encourage you to join Dr MJ for 1-2-1 Mentoring session in Liverpool to further advance your skills.
Dr MJ Rowland-Warmann

LEAD INSTRUCTOR
Dr MJ Rowland-Warmann is the founder and lead clinician at Smileworks Liverpool. She is a dentist, and holds Masters degrees in Orthodontics and Aesthetic Medicine. Her practice is limited to non-surgical aesthetics with a special area of interest in the management of dermal filler complications using ultrasound, accepting national and international referrals for the resolution of filler-related incidents.
She lectures on dermal filler complication management and founded the Smileworks HUB, a training academy for medical professionals to advance their skills in aesthetic medicine and ultrasound. She is a speaker for Clarius Mobile Ultrasound, GE Healthcare and Galderma. Dr Rowland-Warmann is an advocate for greater safety in aesthetics and has been widely published in industry and national media to raise standards within aesthetics.
Gillian Murray

LEAD INSTRUCTOR
Gillian Murray has been working in aesthetics since 2014. In addition to her aesthetic work she holds both a senior lecturer and clinical academic position at Kings College London University.
Gillian has 16 years’ experience working in acute trusts within the NHS predominately in her speciality areas of surgery and intensive care medicine. As an advanced clinical pharmacist her areas of prior practice include plastics, burns, vascular, dermatology, rheumatology and infection. She has vast experience in critical appraisal of literature and guideline writing pertaining to areas of surgical and non-surgical medicine, and has consulted on education strategies at local, regional, and national level.
Gillian held a position on the ACE (Aesthetic Complications Expert) board where she gathered experience managing complications. Currently she is a founding board member of CMAC (Complications in Medical Aesthetics Collaborative), a global membership organisation which supports medical professionals in need of help.
Outside of complications, she has a specialist interest in hypersensitivity reactions in aesthetics, hyaluronic acid gel chemistry, rheology, and behaviours, and through her position at KCL she is currently undertaking research toward her PhD. She has already lead and co-authored publications related to vascular occlusion, Hyaluronidase, delayed onset nodules, acute bacterial and herpes simplex infection, facial wounds and rheology.
Dr Ihab Matta, MD
COURSE FACILITATOR
Since graduating from the University of Toronto Medical School in 1991, Dr. Matta has come to offer cosmetic, nutritional, executive and preventive health care services to his clients. Moving to Brampton in 1993, he started a medical practice and opened the Dr. Matta Cosmetic and Laser Clinic at Trinity Common. In 2017, Dr. Matta rebranded and moved his team to Vaughan, Ontario to open dM Cosmetic and Wellness Center.
As an expert source on cosmetic and medical issues, he is frequently sought out by media to share his knowledge and expertise. Dr. Matta has guest lectured at the University of Toronto, Peel Memorial Hospital, and has presented multiple times at the annual College of Family Physicians Convention.
As a trainer and Advisor, he has trained hundreds of Canadian and international physicians in numerous cosmetic and medical procedures including Botox Cosmetic®, hyaluronic acid fillers, laser procedures and more.
Dr. Matta has presented new and novel approaches at the Canadian Association of Aesthetic Medicine conference as well as the Eastern Canada Nurses Conference and is considered a key opinion leader, trainer and advisor for Allergan, Pollogen and Invasix. Despite his extensive experience, he is continually upgrading his skills, technology and knowledge base and regularly attends continuing education.
Dr Fahad Alam
COURSE FACILITATOR
Dr. Fahad Alam is an Assistant Professor, Anesthesiologist and medical education researcher at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and the University of Toronto. He is also a Hyperbaric Medicine Physician at Restore Hyperbaric Oxygen & Medical Centre. During his residency training he completed a fellowship at the Wilson Centre for Research in Medical Education and completed the Clinician Investigator Program at the University of Toronto. He has a Masters in Health Sciences looking at enhancing medial education and knowledge translation.
Dr. Alam is the current Medical & Research Director at the Sunnybrook Canadian Simulation Centre, Chair of both the Canadian Anesthesiologists’ Society(CAS) Simulation & Education Section and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Committee. Dr. Alam also co-created CHISIL (a virtual & augmented reality lab) and leads its satellite VR/AR learning and clinical application mobile lab at Sunnybrook Health Sciences.
As an Anesthesiologist, Dr. Alam is very experienced with injections under ultrasound guidance. He firmly believes that ultrasound guided cosmetic injections are safer and provide a better aesthetic result. Dr. Alam has further trained with leading ultrasound cosmetic injectors such as Dr. MJ Rowland-Warmann (Liverpool, UK) & Dr. Ihab Matta in advanced injection techniques and complication management. He is also an international member of the Complications in Medical Aesthetic Collaborative (CMAC).
Online Facial Ultrasound Course
Our online course offers multimedia, accelerated learning for maximum knowledge retention. We built our course with medical professionals in mind. New lessons are added to the course on a regular basis.

Day One: Hands-on Ultrasound Training
Start the Safe Practice Summit off strong by putting your ultrasound knowledge into practice in a hands-on session with Dr MJ. Focus on practical skills to effectively launch ultrasound in your practice.
Objectives: Effectively interpret ultrasound images, produce predictable imaging and learn the basics of guided treatments.

Day Two: Practical Complication Training
Close off your weekend of learning with Gillian Murray’s practical filler complication course. Get a complete overview of the complications that can be experienced with dermal fillers and the management.

Course length: 1 full day (09:00-17:00)

Advanced Ultrasound: Filler Recognition
Delve into a mix of informative videos, vivid animations, real ultrasound demonstrations, and precise reading materials. Learn at your own pace and revisit content as needed, all from the comfort of your home. This course can be completed before or after the Safe Practice Summit.
Objectives: Level up your ultrasound skills with precise filler recognition.
